2014 Goals – February update
In summary so far:
Year to Date progress
2014 Goals – Top 3 successes
Goal 3 – At 75% savings rate, I’ve absolutely killed my target for February. I suppose that the shorter month helps a little to reduce spending, but I’m still pretty pleased with this result!
Goal 6 – Once again, I was able to put aside another £1k to top up the stock & shares ISA in April. I’ll be posting two articles later this week with advice of filling your stocks & shares ISA and when to invest your ISA allowance.
Goal 7 – February was a good month for dividend income, with the majority of year-ends falling in December and therefore these companies pay their year end dividends in Feb/March. This month’s dividend income has moved me to being ahead of my YTD target in this goal. Turning failure into success feels good!!
2014 goals – Top 3 Failures
All of my financial goals improved in February. However, my other goals all took a bit of a beating!!
Goal 10 – I just can’t get this going! After forming a new habit of getting up at 6am every day (I’ve now done it for over 4 weeks now and I’ve been waking up naturally at 5.55am which I’ve loved). Therefore, I am going to push this month to form a deliberate habit to do my daily sit-ups. Each day, after getting up at 5.55am, its the first thing I’m going to do. I’ve just listened to Tim Ferris on Social Triggers who was discussing the 30 in 30 approach, which I’ll also be doing to start a new positive health habit.
Goal 11 – A few trips to the Alps where fondue is served pretty much makes this one impossible for me! Going skiing and not eating fondue is possibly illegal. Hopefully, when the summer Mediterranean diet of fish and salad returns, I will start catching up again.
Goal 12 – No trips away this month. We LOVE skiing and are so close to the alps that a weekend there is always going to trump a trip abroad. However, we have trips to Monaco & Italy planned in April, Corsica in June, Spain in August, and maybe a cheap flight over to Northern Africa for an exciting weekend break. Plenty of time to catch up…
Until next time…
Eating fondue and skiing sounds like a great combo =) Congrats on hitting some of your goals!
That’s a brilliant savings rate! I like the way you track your progress too.
Good luck with your sit up challenge! I get up/wake up at 6am every day but just can’t go straight into exercise.
As long as you’re making progress, you’re headed in the right direction, at least in my opinion! Keep at it and I’m sure you’ll hit your goals (which are very lofty, so well done, btw).
Amazing savings and I’m totally impressed by your places to travel list. We’re trying to travel a little more this year (domestically and internationally). To me travel is really priceless because of the memories you make while trying new things in new places.
