With the start of a new year just around the corner, many of us will be trying to make the most of those first steps into 2015. So what exactly are those steps going to be? A YouGov survey of Brits this year showed that, as expected, the top 3 resolutions made were to improve personal health and fitness, with pledges to do more exercise (51%), lose weight (47%), and improve diet (41%).

But what about getting your finances in shape? 4th place in the survey came saving more money, with 30% of people vowing to do so. However, as far as simple steps go, finding an affordable life insurance policy could be the most positive move you make. Not only will you be saving yourself money in the future by buying now; the younger you are, the lower your premium will be; you’ll also be ensuring your finances for the future.
Family First
Building a stable financial future is especially important when dependants like children or grandchildren are concerned. And like it or not, Christmas time is also all about family – whether it’s your dearest granddad or that aunt which causes you a fair bit of agony, it wouldn’t quite be Christmas without them. As such, 9% of people surveyed planned to spend more time with their loved ones.

Enjoying that time together while you still can should be at the top of the list for everyone: after all, a family’s for life, not just for Christmas. However, as morbid as it may seem, contemplating how they’d get by without you may just help you see the value of life insurance. This could be to help cover any ongoing mortgage or debts you have or simply to ensure their comfort financially – either way, prudence pays.
Window Shopping
When it comes to purchasing, make sure you know your options. Online life insurance provides a great selection to suit everyone’s needs, so much so that 38% of life insurance policies are now bought online (Accenture’s 2014 UK Financial Services Customer Survey). And with the amount of information now available in the digital realm, there’s no better way.
