Let’s face it not everyone is a morning person. If you have trouble getting up and dressed in order to make it to your current 9-to-5 desk job, you may want to explore other options. You live in the digital world where nearly everyone communicates through one or more social media platforms. Today, business is not limited to the office; it can happen from almost anywhere. There are so many jobs that require little or no experience that you can do from your home or at the home of your clients.
Operating Your Own Business
Making the decision to leave your job is something you should think long and hard about. While you have flexible hours and are the boss, there are cons. First, there’s no guarantee that the money will roll in immediately. This is something you need to factor in and have 6 months of your current salary in savings to pull from as needed. Additionally, while there are many startup businesses such as freelance work that you can begin with little or no out-of-pocket expenses, some startups require schooling and supplies. Luckily, if you fall a little short on the bottom line you can apply for a business loan for a few thousand to get the business off the ground.
Freelancing
If you like to write or design, a freelancing career gives you the freedom to create your own hours, select your own clients and earn an unlimited amount of money. It also affords you time off to spend time with the family, attend a graduation or take the day off if you choose to do so. All you need is a computer and good writing or designing skills.
Starting out and acquiring your first accounts is the hardest part. Once you land a few jobs, get your name out there, and build confidence, you’ll open the door to many opportunities. There are fallbacks to freelance work. First, you must be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently. Second, there are no guarantees that you’ll stay busy each month, so you will need to budget your money carefully.
Mobile Jobs
If you have difficulty sitting at a desk, even from the comfort of your home, and like helping people perhaps a job as a cosmetologist or a massage therapist may interest you. Both of these careers only take a maximum of two years of schooling to get your license and have minimal start-up fees. Another nice benefit of these jobs is that you can do them in your home or become mobile and take your supplies with you to a client’s home or wherever the need arises.
If you like to clean why not make money from your passion? With a few cleaning products, a vacuum and gloves you’re on your way to earning money.
Today, your job options are not limited to the traditional 9-to-5 schedule. If you have something you feel passionate about or have skills that fit into numerous job descriptions, there’s no time like the present to explore other opportunities.
